Mevagissey is situated on Cornwalls southern Riviera Coast, about 5 miles from St Austell. Mevagissey's location makes it the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful county and coastline of Cornwall. Mevagissey is a small, unspoilt fishing village with a colourful history of smuggling, fishing and boat building, which still goes on today.

Mevagissey still retains its traditional character and nowadays has a selection of top quality pubs, restaurants and shops. Mevagissey Tourist Office, located in St George's Square, opposite the Post Office are very helpful. There is a lot of accommodation, including a harbourside hotel, many fishermans cottages and guesthouses, so enjoy the best of Cornish hospitality. When it comes to views, Mevagissey harbour is one of the best. Damon Alban of Blur has a place, over looking the harbour and property here is in demand.

The fish and chip shop, local artwork and hand made silver jewellery are top class. You can also buy fresh fish and lobsters (2lb approx £17) from the harbour side. There is a lot of dogpoo in someplaces. So if bringing your dog, please bring a pooper scooper!
