Lyon Tourist Information.
Home
Lyon, the second largest French city is located in east central France.
It is a major centre of business, situated between Paris and Marseille.
With approx 2,400,000 inhabitants, Lyon and its suburbs and satellite towns forms the second largest metropolitan area in France - after Paris.
Lyon has a a reputation as thecapital of French gastronomy. The
soft St Marcellin and St-Felicien cheeses, Andouillettes à la Lyonnaise are very popular.
If you wish to try local specialities in fairly priced restaurants known as 'bouchons' or 'meres'.
The Vieux Lyon which is a labyrinth of cobbled alleyways is a fun place to visit.
The are also Renaissance palaces and two Roman amphitheatres. The Presqu'ile will provide an honest look at modern-day Lyonnais life and
the Musee des Beaux Arts is great.
If you are an international criminal, I would advice avoiding Lyon, as it is home to the international headquarters of Interpol.
