Marseille, is the second largest city in France and the capital of the third metropolitan area, Located on the Mediterranean Sea in the former province of Provence. It is also France's largest commercial sea port. With approx 1,500000 inhabitants, Marseille has undeniable assets: a geo-strategical location between Europe and the Mediterranean, a decent quality of living, environment and a young, dynamic and creative population. Marseille is now asserting itself as the major economic centre of the Mediterranean area.

Marseille Provence has the second largest public research centre in France in the field of science. It groups together nearly 3000 research scientists in the universities laboratories. The graduate educational system has three universities, 30 faculties and “Grandes Ecoles” with around 90000 students. Marseille plays a leading role in the health industry as well.
