Hostels (ostello) and guest houses (casa di ospite), as well as several campsites (campeggio) are inexpensive compared to the better hotels. Finding accommodation can be difficult in the peak tourist season (July to August), so booking your Milan hotel is advised. The most popular tourist attractions in Milan are located in and around the city centre. There is plenty to see, including the 'Milan Duomo', it is the 1/3rd largest cathedral in the world. The Teatro alla Scala Opera House - built in 1776 will impress the wife and well worth the hassle. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to food, wine, shopping and the nightlife.
